Study Groups: Pro-Grade Sims, Split the Cost

The best tournament players have always studied in groups. They compare lines, argue about frequencies, and split the work of building a sim library. The available tools never kept up: solver licenses and server rentals are priced per person, so every member of a study circle ends up paying the full amount for software they use a few hours a week.

Simbot Study Groups fix the economics and the workflow at the same time. One subscription powers an entire group. Everyone runs sims, everyone studies the results, and nobody needs to maintain a server.

What a Study Group is

A Study Group is a shared workspace inside Simbot. Create a group, invite your study partners, and link one member’s subscription to it. From that point on:

• Every member runs sims on the group’s dedicated server. Screenshot or hand history in, HRC-accurate preflop sim out. Members don’t need their own subscription.
• Every sim lands in a shared library. One member runs the spot, the whole group studies it in the interactive range viewer: frequencies, EVs, and every node of the decision tree.
• Folders keep the library organized. Sort sims by topic: final table 3-handed, PKO with short stack, bubble spots, whatever you are currently working on.

The math

Simbot plans run from $139 to $549 per month, each with unlimited sims. Alone, that’s a serious cost in a study budget. Shared, it stops being one:

• Three friends on a Basic plan pay about $46 each per month for unlimited HRC-accurate sims.

Another big win is what a shared sim library does for your study quality. When everyone in the group looks at the same sim, you get valuable discussions: you argue about the spot, not about whose sim produced which frequencies under which settings. You can focus on why the solver plays certain hands in a specific way, without being distracted by solver noise.

Study Groups also kill duplicate work. A five-person group that used to run the same handful of spots five times over can now run five times the amount of spots. Split the prep for a series: one player builds the short-stacked PKO library, another covers bubble spots, a third runs the final table configurations. By Saturday, everyone studies all of it.
